| Dave: I just put 80 glowing characters up on eBay. The guitar arrived on the dot in great shape and we had our first exploratory sit-down this morning. Perfect. A handful of objects have an almost animate quality... a hand-made bicycle, a properly rigged Hobie 18 Magnum (with the right crew), or a crafted musical instrument. I heard somebody thoughtful -- the production manager of Business Week, Kathy Kopf -- remark once that print would never go away because \"... we are a tactile species.\" Sorry Egan (Ghostbusters), but it\'s true. It\'s that combination of aesthetics, function, and -- to borrow from Kathy -- a certain tactile quality that creates steady gigs with a few objects.
