History Of G&L GuitarsLeo Fender passed away on a rainy day in March of 1991, an event which shook the Music World: The father of modern music was gone. It was on that very day that Leo had completed his last prototype instrument, after which he declared to his wife Phyllis that he had given all he can to the... |

I have a 1981 DY74C that I bought new. This guitar is very sweet sounding, plays well and is still accurately intoned. Excellent craftsmanship and design make this a eally good instrument. Yep, I'm a fan. I have a couple of higher end Taylors that I love but my Yairi has its own unique character and it records beautifully. MarkBBlu |

| Dave,
I've had my Flaxwood Laine for a week now and just wanted to let you know what a stellar instrument it is. It now occupies the #1 position in the arsenal and my family has named it "The Green Machine". My detailed thoughts are as follows: First of all, the "Fit and Finnish" (get it?) are impeccable. I saw what I thought were a couple of tiny blemishes on the back, but then realized they were likely part of the injection-molding process. The color application is flawless and very rich-looking. It's certainly equal in quality to the PRS', Giffin's, Groshes and other high end (and high-dollar) guitars I have had the pleasure to play or own. The neck profile is very comfortable to me and I really like the "satin" finish. As far as the sound - I'm quite amazed. The "lipstick pickups I've played in the past have been thin and scratchy sounding, but not these. Big and rich with oodles of harmonic complexity. The biggest surprise to me is the depth of the bridge pickup. Many strats become very "tinny" when using the bridge pickup alone, but I'm spending a lot of time cranking out some gruff tele tones with this bad boy. There really is a lot to love about this guitar. The whammy-bar design is the best I've ever seen and yet very simple, the selective blend control, and a user-friendly tone control that doesn't roll off ALL the highs. Most of all, I really appreciate the technology that makes this guitar impervious to changes in humidity. As a desert-dweller, this is a HUGE bonus. And the most wonderful aspect of the technology is that the guitar sounds and feels like a wooden instrument. It still has that "soul"..... All-in-all, Dave this guitar is a winner of the highest order. Those friendly, Finnish, wood-working (and scientific) elves have a real winner on their hands! And many thanks to you for hitting me over the hard enough to get me to try it..... Jeff |
