NAMM 2010 Update – Voyage-Air’s Affordable Transit Series

Saturday, January 16th, 2010

With as much as it costs to check bags these days you could leave that extra suitcase at home a few times and pay for one of the new series of travel guitars from Voayage-Air they are calling their Transit Series.

Today, Voayage-Air Guitar shatters the entry-level price barriers with the breakthrough Voyage-Air TransitTM Series guitars. Priced at just $399, almost anyone can afford an easy to play, great- sounding folding travel guitar.

The Transit Series guitars employ the exact same patented hinge as used on all Voayage-Air guitars, on up through the $1,995 VAOM-2C Premiere Series guitar. This is the same hinge as the guitars used on stage by pop icons Steve Miller, and Rusty Anderson with the Paul McCartney Band.

The Transit Series guitars use a high-gloss select Mahogany for the back and sides, along with a smooth satin-finish Mahogany neck and Rosewood fingerboard. The elegant High-gloss Spruce top is supported by forward-shifted X-bracing. All Transit Series guitars feature single-ply black top and back binding, and an inlaid soundhole rosette.

Two configurations are available for the first Transit Series guitars:

The VAOM-02 flatters finger-style playing, with a full-size ‘OM-style’ guitar body, a traditional 1- 3⁄4″ nut width and 24-3/4″ scale length.

The VAMD-02 is designed for strumming and chords, with a slightly-reduced 95%-size ‘Dreadnought’ guitar body. The neck and scale are still full-size, with a 1-11/16″ nut width and a 24-3/4″ scale length.

All Transit Series guitars have standard features usually found on far more expensive instruments: ‘dot’ inlay fret markers, a compensated saddle, the patented Voyage-Air captured nut, advanced zero- fret fingerboard, chrome-plated die-cast enclosed tuners, phosphor-bronze strings, and a distinctive black pickguard. The optional TransitBagTM case is also slimmer and lighter than other Voyage-Air guitars: indeed, these are the most compact full-size acoustic folding travel guitars!

“These are the kind of products that we can now produce based on solid market experience,” said Michael Ferrucci, Vice-President of Sales and Marketing for Voayage-Air Guitar. “These guitars are easy to play, have a rich tone, and are priced so you can really take them anywhere. Never again worry about taking a guitar hiking, camping or on a trip. Take a Transit with you on your next adventure!”

Check back with Guitar Adoptions to see when you will have the chance to go on that next great adventure.

NAMM 2010 Update – G&L is a Real Whipper Snapper…

Saturday, January 16th, 2010

And I don’t mean some young kid running across the front lawn of old man McGee up the street. Although the G&L Whipper Snapper may thumb it’s just as easy at adult authority. It is a G&L’s virgin run into building an amp that partners with their line of electrics and gives a voice to those all ready amazing instruments. The G&L Whipper Snapper is a Hand-wired all tube amplifier that is sure to become a crown jewel for G&L.

Based on a late 1950’s tweed amplifier comes the definitive evolution of a classic. G&L’s own Whipper Snapper. The G&L Whipper Snapper is a medium-powered amplifier capable of producing a wide range of clean and overdriven tones with just the tweak of four controls. This vintage design has been modified to accommodate today’s player’s needs, for a portable yet flexible amplifier making it right at home in almost any playing situation, from practice to rehearsals to recording and live performances.

The Whipper Snapper is an all tube 18 watt hand-wired amplifier coupled with a 12” Jensen® P-12Q speaker, a duet of 6V6 output tubes, two 12AX7 preamp tubes, a 5Y3GT rectifier tube and loaded into a solid pine cabinet for warmth and unmatched dynamics.

Output: 18 watts

Speaker: One 12 inch, Alnico-Magnet, Jensen® P-12Q speaker (8 ohm)

Channels: One with High and Low inputs to accommodate both single-coil and humbuckered instruments.

Features:

• Modified late 1950’s 5E3 circuit • Hand-wired all-tube circuitry on eyelet board • Finger-joined solid Pine cabinet resonates with a warm, woody tone • Volume w/pull Bright, Treble, Bass and On/Off controls • Two J&J 6V6 output tubes • Two 12AX7 preamp tubes, one of which may be substituted with a 12AT7 for

lower-gain sound, if desired • 5Y3GT rectifier tube provides natural compression or “sag” • Jewel lamp power indicator • Leather strap handle • Made in USA

Tube Complement: 2-12AX7, 2-6V6, 1-5Y3

NAMM 2010 Update – Voyage-Air Goes Electric

Friday, January 15th, 2010

A year ago, Voyage-Air Guitar shocked the NAMM show with the introduction of full-size acoustic guitars that folded in half for travel. Guitars that held their pitch when restored to playing position. Guitars that were ‘no compromise’ instruments that would go on to prove their worth ON STAGE with the likes of Rusty Anderson and the Paul McCartney Band.

History repeats. For 2010, Voyage-Air Guitar introduces the TransAxeTM series of electric guitars. Available in four distinctive models, each TransAxeTM model is carefully engineered to deliver the tone of the world’s best-loved electric guitars. All in a guitar that folds in half for travel, and fits into its distinctive DuraTransTM carry case that is about the size of a laptop computer case. You have to SEE it to BELIEVE it. And with these guitars, to HEAR and PLAY THEM will shatter any notions you’ve ever had about electric travel guitars! They’re that good!

Again, master luthier Harvey G. Leach designed the special shape of the TransAxeTM guitar series. “I had in mind playing comfort, as well as the overall tone of the instrument,” said Leach. “I knew from experience that certain combinations of tonewoods, along with special shaping of interior tone chambers would make an instrument that’s not only lightweight for travel, but is also resonant. This gives great sustain, while enhancing the sound signature of each model.”

“After a year of refinements and testing, we’ve really dialed-in Harvey’s unique design,” said Adrian Bagale, COO of Voyage-Air Guitar. “Of course Harvey was right on: it’s a combination of woods, shapes, chambers and custom TONERIDER® pickups that brings these instruments to life. I’m serious: aside from the vibe and the tone, these guitars really feel ‘alive’ in your hands. Don’t take my word for it – PLAY ONE! The fact that they fold in half for travel takes their value and convenience to a whole new level.”For the first day of the 2010 NAMM Show, Voyage-Air introduces four new TransAxeTM series guitars:

Model VE-S1. Venerable ‘Strat-Style’ with three TONERIDER® single-coil Alnico-V pickups adapted to the folding travel guitar. The body is solid Alder, and a neck of solid Canadian Maple. The five-way pickup switch is wired through classic Volume-Tone-Tone controls. Fat frets make for easy chords and bends, 24 3⁄4″ scale length.

Model VE-T1. Here’s the ‘Tele-Style’ layout updated for a folding travel guitar. Here, the body is solid Alder, and the neck is Canadian Maple topped with a Rosewood fingerboard. Custom TONERIDER® ‘lipstick-style’ pickup at the neck, and angled single-coil at the bridge. Three-way toggle switch for the pickups, and stacked push-pull single knob controls both volume and tone, keeping vintage-looks in line with the retro mint-green pickguard. Fat frets, 24 3⁄4″ scale length.

Model VE-R1. A modern Retro-Style guitar, with a pair of custom TONERIDER® Alnico II ‘Soapbar-Stye’ pickups in a tortoise-look pickguard. The body is solid Alder and the neck is Canadian Maple topped with Rosewood. Three-way toggle for the pickups, and two Volume and two Tone controls to tune the wide range of sounds from this guitar. Fat frets, 24 3⁄4″ scale length.

Model VE-H1. The classic twin-humbucker style guitar, with a pair of TONERIDER® Alnico IV pickups set ‘PAF-style into a solid Maple top finished in amber-sunburst. Solid Mahogany body, and solid Mahogany neck topped with a Rosewood fretboard. Three-way toggle for the pickups, and two Volume and two Tone controls to tune the wide range of sounds from this guitar. Fat frets, 24 3⁄4″ scale length.

All four new TransAxeTM guitars include the DuraTransTM carrying case. The tough, ballistic-nylon outer shell is molded onto foam for a case that’s about the size of a large laptop computer case – yet still has a zippered pouch for a separate laptop, and a concealed pocket that folds open to reveal convenient backpack carry straps.

With an MSRP of $699 – $799 depending on model, the new Voyage-Air TransAxeTM guitars represent guitars that are as easy traveling as they are to afford. “It was always our dream to create a convenient, folding electric guitar,” said Jeff Cohen, co-founder of Voyage-Air Guitar. “The quality of these instruments, and the quality of their engineering make them unique in the industry. Nothing on the market approaches the value of a Voyage-Air TransAxeTM guitar.”
